Challenge
Overview:
The client is a global data centre looking to refurb one of their UK locations.
Client aim:
Client aim was to get the new offices full operational for the team to move it. From meeting to completion in 3 weeks.
Challenges faced by the client:
- Client needed work to be completed within 3 weeks from date of survey
- Some works was required over a weekend which included carrying out a cabinet upgrade
- Client did not have an annotated drawing detailing their existing infrastructure, which made remote support difficult
- Client needed to know exactly what infrastructure they had in place and where it was to enable remote support
How did we resolve the issues:
- We worked with our client to create 3 separate smaller quotes within 24 hours which allowed them to be more agile with the sign off process. We then made ourselves available for a Teams meeting to ensure the quotes were understood and ready to be submitted for approval. Once approved, work booked in for the following week.
- We carried the cabinet upgrade out of hours working from 8:30am to 8pm ensuring no interruption for any staff working during the week. All ports tested and labelled in line with new cabinet.
- We introduced a clear labelling system combining both existing and new infrastructure. Then created an As-Fit drawing allowing their service desk to be able to remotely support their team.
- Our on-site engineers captured Serial and Mac addresses for all hardware, digitised them for client enabling them to log in and connect straight away remotely.
Special considerations
- There were 3 projects to deliver within the time frame
- Customer was based in the US
- Collaborating with the service desk team who were unable to attend ensuring the office was fully operational.
