Overview
Working in a 300-year-old hotel, the brief was to upgrade the infrastructure of the commercial, staff and communal areas of the hotel. This included 32 offices, 26 meeting rooms, 2 restaurants, 2 kitchens and the reception area. This all needed to be completed whilst the hotel remained operational
Client aim
To improve customer and staff experience with a CAT6a infrastructure and future proof the hotel as digital demands increased.
The work we completed:
- Multiple surveys to design the right solution for the client including time frames of delivery.
- Cabinet Upgrade x 2
- New Cabinet Install x 3
- CAT6a Infrastructure
- 411 Data Outlets
- Fibre links between cabinets x 2.
Considerations:
- Hospitality environment so staff working 24/7.
- Working with the hotel to reduce customer disruption.
- 300 year-old period building in London making it difficult to cable.
Special considerations
- Regular project meetings to discuss, for example, hotel meeting room use and working around bookings, to make sure the end user of the hotel was not effected by cabling.
- Minimizing downtime was a priority in every part of this project
Services we delivered
- Data cabling – the CAT6a infrastructure is used to support staff operations and enhance customer experience.
- Fibre optics – fibre optic links used between cabinets to give the hotel a high speed backbone.
- Cabling migration – working with their IT team, to support them with upgrading the hardware and migrating the systems from the old cabling infrastructure to the new cabling infrastructure.
- Cabinet upgrade – removing existing infrastructure from current cabinet and installing it in to a new cabinet.
